Network Rail carrying out 530 upgrade projects worth £83m to upgrade railway for passengers over the Easter bank holiday weekend. Majority of network will be open for business as usual, but some routes will be affected by the works taking place, so passengers are asked to check before they travel

Train operators are working together to provide support to Ukrainian arrivals by offering free onward travel to their final destinations in Britain. The scheme will be live from Sunday 20 March 2022, and complements offers made by the European Railway Family, to provide safe and free passage for Ukrainians.

Switches and crossings – the complex railway components which allow trains to change tracks – are being replaced by Network Rail between Preston, Manchester, Warrington, and Wigan on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 April.

Network Rail has completed a range of essential upgrades to the railway between London Euston, the Midlands and North West this Early May Bank Holiday.
